Moose!

Well, we have a fur child :) Hopefully a permanent one!

Recap: This cat (who seems to have been left by previous owners) has been hanging out on my parents' new porch. It is such a sweet, loving little cat. Of course I fell in love. Well we talked it over a few weeks and decided to try and give Moose a forever home! We brought Moose home with us yesterday.

After an evening of exploring, we all had a rough night. Moose did fine at first but when it was bedtime for us, Moose had a meltdown... an all night meltdown. There was hardly a moments peace because of all of the meowing. I felt like we had a new baby. I finally just got up and went to the living room with Moose and tried to sleep in between the meowing (not very successfully).

This morning we took Moose to the mobile vet clinic to get vaccinated. This afternoon the cat has been very mellow and has slept under the bed most of the evening (which makes me wary of the activity that is sure to ensue later tonight).

We are a little overwhelmed with the adjustment just like Moose. Hopefully the cat will adjust quickly and we can all live happily here. We're a little afraid that Moose just may not be inside cat material, in which case we'd love him/her from afar while he/she continues to live on my parents' porch.

We're hoping after Moose's vet visit on Monday (after which the gender will be revealed because let's be honest, we just don't have a clue) we'll be better equipped with some info for making the transition a little less painless... because we all need our beauty sleep!

So welcome to our home Moose! We hope you learn to love it here!

This little kitty LOVES belly rubs :) and catnip!

NIECE #2 Has Made Her Debut

We are Aunt and Uncle again to baby Alice!!

Amanda gave birth to a sweet little girl yesterday! We got a text from Richard early afternoon... "It's a Girl!" We are so excited to have a new little niece :) We (im)patiently waited for a picture all day. We finally got one late last night and she is absolutely beautiful!

We can't wait to see more pictures and watch her grow up with her siblings! Which would be easier if they were in TX (*cough* ahem, move back here Fuentes family).

We may or may not have already gone shopping for the little darling :)

WELCOME TO THE WORLD SWEET PEA!

Fun Week!

The past week has been pretty fun around the Hanrahan household!

Last Sunday, we celebrated Father's Day with Dad. We took gifts over and Mom made a yummy steak dinner for everyone.

PSA: Dad is doing good! He is no longer using the walker to get around. He is eating "real" food again too. Our next goal is to get him stronger and continue to let him heal.

Our love tree is growing! We noticed a new little leaf growing this week :)

This weekend, we got a few fun things! We went and bought an adorable door mat for our apartment. We also had Jesse's diploma and a piece of name art framed at Hobby Lobby and got to pick those up this weekend.

There is a cat that has kind of made my parents' porch their little home. The cat is so sweet and loving that we are maybe going to adopt it :) We are worried about two things: It's health, so we will be taking it to the vet first and if it's someone's cat already. It doesn't have a collar but it doesn't look like a scraggly stray cat either. We don't know if maybe some old tenants left he/she behind or what. So this weekend we bought Moose (that's what we've named the cat) a collar. Moose spent most of the day being mad that we put the collar on haha We're hoping that if it's someone else's cat they will call us and say "What the heck?" If not, we'll probably be making arrangements to bring Moose home with us in the next couple of weeks.

Hallelujah!!

DAD IS HOME!!

We are so excited that we finally have Dad in his own bed.

It was a bit of a rough discharge day. We had a blood clot in the lung scare (no clots!) and it seemed like forever to get all the right people to sign Dad out. He has a lot of new gadgets and he's still on a lot of medicines but he's home.

It'll be a small challenge at first trying to get everything right and working on a new schedule to make sure everything gets done when it's supposed to but it's worth it to have Dad out of the hospital.

Dad was home and settled in by 8pm last night. We had to run out and try to get some prescriptions filled and the home health lady was still there at 9:45pm. It was a very long day but we couldn't be happier to have Dad home.

Now we just have to get him well and get him back to his old self again! Getting him eating is the goal for now.

God Gave Me You

We have had a really rough week. Dad is still in the hospital. After doing so well he had a setback this past weekend. He will probably not be home for another few days.

I really can't say this enough but people have really surprised me throughout this whole ordeal. It is amazing to me the kindness that has been shown to my family. It seems people only talk about the bad things going on in the world, but there is good if you look for it.

One person in particular is my dear, sweet husband. I know I rave about him often but words cannot express how full he makes my heart, especially in difficult times. He is my rock! It melts my heart the way he cares for my family like it's his own. He is a "yes" man for anything my family needs. How lucky am I to have such a kind hearted husband that he would spend every day at the hospital since we've been home from our honeymoon?! We've been here most of the day, every day since our return and Jesse hasn't complained once. I can't tell you the last time the poor guy got to play his xbox. He even comes during the day when the rest of us have to work. He gives my father water to drink, fluffs his pillows, and helps him out of bed without a second thought. He even comes out in the hall with us when dad goes for a walk to help cheer him on.

I am so incredibly blessed to have such a selfless husband who would do anything for me and my family. We've had a tough  9 months, and they seem only to bring more challenges as they go on, but the load has been made a little easier to bear with Jesse by my side.

He will be a shining example of what a good, honest, genuine person is for our future children. I have no doubt in my mind that if they turn out half as good as Jesse, they'll be pretty dadgum special!!
